After being on Twitter for almost a year and watching others join it, I have come to a few conclusions.
If you are drinking, it is probably not a good idea to tweet. You tend to say things that you really didn't want to say, or offend people without realizing it. This holds true for those folks who think that they can drink a few beers while streaming live video on Ustream and other live chats. Unless, you do not care what other people think of you as they watch you drool and slide off your chair. Believe me, it is really not a pretty sight. And, unlike Las Vegas, what you do on the Internet, STAYS on the Internet.
If you are trying to use Twitter to grow your business, I suggest posting more often than every 6 months. I would also recommend posting useful website URLs, and carrying on a conversation. Please do not just keep posting "I posted to my blog" over and over.
A lot of Internet marketers are now on Twitter. What I find interesting is that they tend to clump in groups, following others doing the same thing. Why not branch out and talk to other people as well? Isn't that what social media is all about?
